November 25, 2006:

Since I mastered the art of fiberglass fabrication
there is one more part to make. Actually it's just part of a part.

On the interior of the car the trims that runs from the windshield to the bottom of the back window on both sides over the door and quarter windows
and then across the top and bottom of the rear window are also
chrome plated fiberglass. In addition, the chrome trim around the
rear seat headrests are as well.
The left and right side trims have a 90 degree return on them from the
side of the car over to the window which is about 1 1/2".
The return pieces on both sides was broken off, and the left side
was missing completely. Thankfully, the right side piece was here
and I made a plaster mold from it and fabricated
a piece for the left side. It was very simple compared to making the
hood nose piece. Then I reattached both pieces to the parts they
belong on and proceeded to finish them with filler, primer and wet
sanding to a 1200 grit finish for the plater.
I should mention that I removed all of the original chrome plating
you see in the pictures. As you can see, it was pretty loose and
peeled off quite easily. All of the fiberglass pieces were prepped
for the plater in the same manner wxcept the two pieces that trim
the rear seat headrests. The old chrome on them was still
firmly attached and I left it on as it is a good base for the new
chrome.
