February 29th update:
Leaping ahead, I'm starting to finish
After the welding is done, I use a product called "Metal 2 Metal"
as a base coat over the welded seams. It is waterproof
so moisture won't get into the seams causing corrosion.
Regular filler will absorb some moisture so it is best
to use the M2M as the basecoat. (so I'm told by the local suppliers)
Note that I also used the M2M on the seam inside the quarters too.
When I'm done, you won't be able to tell the quarters were patched
No, I'm not makeing a camoflaged duck blind, that's a "check coat"
where you spray a dark primer on and then sand it off,
If you can't sand off all the primer, then you have more filling
to do to get the panels straight. Works good!
Yes, I had more filling to do...

March 17th...
Today I built the Battery Tray and box for TRFNSRF
Many people on the Amphi-lovers email list sent pictures
and dimensions, and along with the remnants of the tray in TRFNSRF
I was able to build the box to look exactly like original equipment.
The top bracket with the bolt through it is available from Gordon Imports
It took about 3 hours to build the box and tray.
I still have to cut the notches in the ends of the box that allow you
to grab the battery and lift it out, and cut the round opening in
the bottom of the tray, Then weld the tray in place in TRFNSRF.
I've been busy with filler getting the doors, hood, Deck lid
and body nice and straight. It's been a lot of work but is turning out beautiful.
If all goes well, I should be applying seam sealer on Saturday
and priming TRFNSRF and a bunch of parts on Sunday.(3-21-04)
I plan to paint the bottom and suspension parts, get the wheels
back on and set her back on the floor before I paint the inside and outside.
I'll paint it all apart and then refinish all the component parts and
install them as I complete them. The engine should be done around the end
of April at the machine shop.
I think I can see a glimmer of light...
